Meet Our Team

Lila

Headteacher

Lila brings a wealth of experience and qualifications to the Madrasah, with over 20 years of expertise in teaching and educational management. She is a qualified teacher and holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). Lila also holds two master’s degrees—one in Management and another in Teaching and Learning—from the University of Birmingham.

She has worked as a headteacher in both the UK and France, where she developed her leadership skills and fostered team cohesiveness. Additionally, Lila had the privilege of studying Arabic and Quran in Egypt for many years, further deepening her connection to Islamic education.

Fluent in French, English, and Arabic, Lila is a skilled communicator with a management style that motivates staff and promotes productivity. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys art, travel, museums, reading, languages, and sports.

Almas

Online Coordinator

Almas Wali, with a background in biotechnology engineering and formal studies in Tafseer, Tajweed, and Quranic Grammar, brings a blend of technical and Islamic knowledge to this role. She has taught Sarf, Nahw, and Balagha and has held administrative positions as a teacher and coordinator in Islamic organisations in Dubai and at GLM. Known for being proactive, a quick learner, and highly organized, these traits have enabled her to effectively manage and support the operations of Islamic educational institutions. As the Online Madrasah Coordinator, Almas aims to ensure smooth coordination, foster student progress, and support teachers in delivering high-quality Islamic education.

Hifsah

Online Coordinator (maternity cover)

Hifsah Hussain has joined Green Lane Masjid as the new Online Coordinator, bringing a strong background in education, administration, and community engagement. She holds a degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Childhood and Youth Studies, further deepening her expertise in child development and education.

With experience working as both an administrator and teacher in Islamic schools, Hifsah has developed a deep understanding of the educational needs of students and the importance of structured, engaging learning environments. Her passion for Islamic studies and education drives her commitment to creating a supportive and enriching experience for learners.

Dedicated and proactive, Hifsah is excited to contribute to the growth and success of the online learning programs at Green Lane Masjid. She looks forward to working closely with students, teachers, and the community to enhance their educational journey.

Zeenat

Admin

Zeenat is a dedicated administrator at the Madrasah, managing enrollments and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the institution. With a solid background in education, Islamic studies, and psychology, Zeenat is well-equipped to create a supportive and effective learning environment. As a mother of four home-schooled children, she understands the importance of personalised education and applies this experience in her professional role. Zeenat has a deep personal interest in Islamic education and development, continuously seeking to expand her knowledge and contribute to community growth. Her extensive travels to various countries has also broadened her perspective, allowing her to connect with diverse cultures and further enhance her understanding of global educational practices.

Ustadh Abdulrahman

Online Quran Teacher

Abdulrahman Al-Hawaty is a dedicated online Quran teacher at Green Lane Madrasah since 2022. He also serves as an online teaching assistant at the International Islamic University of Minnesota. He hold a Bachelor’s and a High Diploma in Islamic Studies in English from Al-Azhar University, where he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Studies, specialising in ʿUthmānic Orthography . With seven years of experience teaching Islamic Studies to non-Arabic speakers, he is passionate about making Islamic knowledge accessible and engaging. He hold multiple I’jazas in the riwayahs of Hafs, Shu’bah, Warsh, and Qaloon. His goal is to provide a nurturing and enriching learning environment for all his students.

Ustadah Zarghona

Quran teacher

Zarghona has been working as a teacher for several years and was also a previous student in the madrasah. She teaches students Qaidah, Quran and Tajweed. She finds joy in seeing students achieve their full potential and finds it an honour helping them learn how to memorise and read the Quran.

Ustadah Amina

Quran and Islamic studies teacher

Amina S. has been teaching at Online Green Lane Madrassah for the past two years as an Islamic Studies and Qur’an teacher. With a degree in Sociology and advanced Arabic studies completed in Egypt, she brings both academic knowledge and cultural depth to her teaching. Before joining Green Lane Madrassah, Amina worked for many years as a Qur’an teacher in various private institutes, where she dedicated herself to nurturing a love for the Qur’an and Islamic teachings in her students. Her goal is to help students develop a strong understanding of Islamic teachings and enhance their Qur’anic recitation with proper Tajweed. Amina is passionate about guiding her students on their spiritual journeys and strives to create a supportive and enriching learning environment that inspires growth and connection to their faith.

Ustadah Felisha

Quran teacher

Felisha has been a Qur’an teacher with GLM for the past 3 years. She was motivated by the hadeeth, “The best among you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.” Inspired by this, she gave up her nursing career and began learning and teaching the Qur’an. Felisha holds a BA in Islamic Studies and a Teacher’s Training Certificate for Qaida under Qatar Awqaf. She has also worked as a Qur’an teacher in Qatar. She holds an Ijazah in recitation and Muqaddimatul Jazariyyah. Felisha is continuing her Islamic studies to expand her knowledge further. As a mother of four, she understands the challenges of teaching the Qur’an to children. She encourages and motivates students to remain consistent in their Qur’anic practice, which, in turn, enables them to progress well. Felisha always emphasizes the importance of the Qur’an in daily life.

Ustadh Soulaymaan

Soulaymaan began his journey with the Qur’an at a young age, attending Green Lane Masjid for six years as a child. Throughout his early years, he learned from numerous esteemed Qur’an teachers, but it was at the age of 16 that two exceptional teachers in the UK helped him refine his Tajweed and instilled in him a deep love for the Qur’an. Inspired by this passion, he embarked on a transformative journey to Egypt at the age of 17 to further his Qur’anic and Islamic studies. Though initially challenging, Egypt soon became his second home, where he immersed himself in the pursuit of knowledge under the guidance of some of the most respected scholars and teachers. Since then, Soulaymaan has continued to travel between the UK and Egypt, continually learning and deepening his understanding of the Qur’an. His dedication to perfecting his recitation and teaching reflects his commitment to preserving and passing on the beauty of the Qur’an to his students.

Ustadah Tayyibah

Tayyibah is a dedicated Qur’an Teacher at GLM Madrasah who strives to instil the love of the Qur’an within all of her students. Having grown up at the masjid and completed her Hifdh with the Madrasah, she has the knowledge to pass on to her students. Being a school student herself when completing her Hifdh, she understands the School/Madrasah balance and is able to connect with her students.

Ustadah Layla

Layla was born in the UK but spent all her educational years in Egypt. She studied at various institutions in Egypt and later graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy. Her education provided her with a strong foundation in Arabic and Islamic studies, alongside her academic qualifications.Fluent in both Arabic and English, she has been blessed with a Qur’an Ijazah in Qira’at Asim, Riwayat Shu’bah, and Hafs, reflecting her dedication to the study and preservation of the Qur’an. In her free time, Layla enjoys reading and actively contributes to her community by volunteering as an assistant scout leader.

A student of knowledge and a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching various age groups. She firmly believes in the potential of children and is passionate about nurturing the next generation of our Ummah according to the principles of the Quran and Sunnah.

Umm Abdullah

A homeschooler, where they discovered their passion for teaching. With extensive experience educating children, they have dedicated years to nurturing young minds. Their studies include attending lessons at the masjid, enriching their knowledge and approach to teaching. Currently teaching Year 5 & 6 boys and girls.

Ustadh Abdullah

Ustadh Abdullah is an experienced teacher of Islamic Studies who studied in Saudi Arabia. Known for his strong rapport with students, Ustadh Abdullah uses a variety of innovative strategies to instill the love of religion in his students. His unique approach emphasizes interactivity, which allows students to engage deeply with the material and develop a stronger connection to their faith. By incorporating different teaching techniques, he ensures that each student feels valued and has the opportunity to learn in an environment that promotes both intellectual and spiritual growth. Ustadh Abdullah’s dedication and enthusiasm create an atmosphere where students thrive and build a solid foundation in Islamic Studies.

Ustadh Yusuf

Seerah Teacher

Ustadh Yusuf is well-known for his engaging lessons on Seerah. His unique teaching style captivates students, making the stories and teachings of the Prophet ﷺ come to life in an impactful and memorable way. Ustadh Yusuf has dedicated many years to studying Islamic studies, further enhancing his deep knowledge and ability to effectively communicate the rich history of Islam. His passion for the subject, combined with his ability to connect with students, makes his lessons both inspiring and educational, leaving a lasting impression on all who learn from him.

Ustadh Wasim

Qur’an Teacher
Ustadh Wasim had the opportunity from learning the art of recitation from numerous teachers in Egypt. He has gained Ijaza in one of the most well known poems in Tajweed, known as Tuhfatul Atfal. Till this day Ustadh Wasim recites to well known Qurra’ who hold prestigious, high isnad all the way back to the prophet. He is currently studying in Egypt and seeks to benefit his students with his knowledge combined with his great teaching skills.

Ustadha Yasmine has over 10 years of experience teaching in Madrasahs in the UK. She has studied Quran, Arabic Language, and the science of Tajweed in Egypt as well as Islamic sciences both in the UK and in Egypt.
Waseem Abu Isa

Waseem Abu Isa is a dedicated Islamic studies teacher and passionate educator. With a strong background in Islamic education, he has been actively involved with Green Lane masjid for over 10 years and has been active in various initiatives to facilitate learning and community development. He holds a Islamic studies degree and has travelled to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and continues to seek knowledge to enhance his teaching. Abu Isa is passionate about nurturing the younger generation, he believes they are the future and emphasises the importance of equipping them with a strong understanding of Islam. Through his work, he strives to make Islamic knowledge accessible, engaging, and impactful for students.
Amran
Qur’an Teacher
Amran is an experienced Qur’an teacher who has taught at various institutions, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for Qur’anic recitation. Her goal is to instill a love for the Qur’an in her students, ensuring they not only learn to recite correctly but also connect with its meanings and beauty. With a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Sharia, which she obtained in 2017, Amran has a strong foundation in Islamic studies. She has five years of experience teaching in online Madrasah programs, where she has successfully adapted her teaching methods to suit virtual learning environments. Known for her gentle and flexible approach, Amran tailors her lessons to meet the individual needs of each student, creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that helps them thrive in their Qur’anic journey.
Dahlia

Dahlia is a dedicated and highly skilled educator with over 20 years of experience in teaching both children and adults. As a mother of eight children, she has personally taught all of them Arabic and the Quran, passing on her knowledge and values in a nurturing and supportive manner. She takes immense pride in ensuring that her students not only excel but also develop a love for the subjects she teaches.
Hamna
Qur’an Teacher
Hamna taught in the GLM On-site Madrasah for a year and is currently teaching Qaidah and Qur’an online. She completed the memorisation of the Qur’an at the age of 10 under the guidance of Sheikh Zakaullah Saleem, the Head Imam of GLM. She then continued her studies with him, learning Tajweed and basic Arabic. Recently, Hamna had the opportunity to study briefly in the Qur’an circles of Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah, gaining invaluable experience that has enriched her teaching style. Alongside teaching, she is currently memorising the Ten Qira’at of the Qur’an, further deepening her understanding and connection with the Book of Allah.
